Tripodal Shelter MK-V is a prototype timber frame with bespoke aluminium connection details and an aluminium skin. One of the components (bridge component) in this project is an adapter element that connects the timber upright and the footpad. In addition, the component needs to be repeatedly produced, the sand-casting method is a more environmentally friendly option than removal method. However, because the surface of sand casting is relatively rough, secondary processing is required for the accuracy of the interface to provide more accurate dimensions for timber joint.
